Under its Definitely Able initiative, Sasol hosted the “British Paraorchestra” (BPO) in Doha from 1 to 5 April 2014. The British Paraorchestra Week featured a program of performances and activities including a major concert with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra at the Katara Opera House, in addition to visits to Al-Noor Institute for the visually impaired to inspire people living with disabilities and shed light within Qatar’s society on the use of one’s abilities and overcoming the roadblock of disabilities.
The British Paraorchestra
The world’s first professional ensemble for disabled musicians, the British Paraorchestra is pioneering a global movement to recognise and showcase their extraordinary abilities. Its mission is to end the limitations placed on gifted disabled musicians, not by their physical ability, but by lack of opportunity by creating a visible platform for them to perform and excel at the highest level.
Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra
The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra promotes and performs western and Arabic music in order to inspire the children and adults of Qatar and the Arab world to create and enjoy music. In blending these cultures the Qatar Philharmonic extends a message of peace to the world.
