Sasol Qatar’s Accessible Qatar initiative participated at the ‘Ability Friendly Empowering Through Inclusion Community Conference & Networking Exhibition’, hosted at Awsaj Academy, Doha Qatar, on November 30, 2024. The event, organized by Qatar Foundation’s Ability Friendly program, was held in celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities. It provided families with disabled members the opportunity to access valuable information on resources in healthcare, sports, recreation, and education. Bringing together key stakeholders, community members, and advocates, the event highlighted the importance of accessibility and inclusion, aiming to empower individuals with disabilities and promote a more inclusive society.
As part of the event, Accessible Qatar engaged attendees with a series of creative and interactive activities designed to inspire and educate about the values of accessibility and inclusion. From vibrant art projects inspired by the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to interactive stations using recycled materials, each activity fostered creativity, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of inclusive design. These activities sparked meaningful conversations among attendees, deepened understanding of inclusive design principles, and emphasized the vital role of creating spaces that cater to everyone, making the event a powerful reminder of the importance of accessibility in building a truly inclusive community.
A highlight of Accessible Qatar’s participation was the inspiring speech delivered by Maryam Al Sulaiti, Accessible Qatar Ambassador. Maryam’s talk, titled ‘Advancing Accessibility and Inclusion in a Digitally Transforming World,’ shed light on the outcomes of the AI for Accessibility and Inclusion Roundtable, hosted by Accessible Qatar and the Ministry of Social Development and Family during the 2023 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE). Her address emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to create inclusive environments and spotlighted the recently launched inclusiveai.qa website.
The Ability Friendly Conference offered a unique opportunity for Accessible Qatar to connect with diverse audiences, furthering its mission to empower individuals with disabilities and foster inclusivity in public spaces. Through community-friendly and engaging activities, the event reinforced Sasol’s commitment to delivering impactful initiatives aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.
